O’Donoghue’s work for the project stems from a ‘deep appreciation and relationship to the sea and an understanding of the important role it plays in the life, culture and heritage of coastal communities’. Drawing on her experiences as an artist and of working in the marine industry, she uses sound as a medium to rethink the ecological balance. Her work explores the relationship between humans and nature, and challenges us to think in new ways about the Dublin Port environment. The Urban Gull Uprising engages directly and provocatively with issues relating to wildlife and biodiversity conservation, with a particular focus on the raucous and much-maligned gull population.
Mae gwaith O' Donoghue ar gyfer y prosiect yn deillio o 'werthfawrogiad a pherthynas ddofn â'r môr a dealltwriaeth o'r rôl bwysig mae'n ei chwarae ym mywyd, diwylliant a threftadaeth cymunedau’r glannau’. Gan dynnu ar ei phrofiadau fel artist ac o weithio yn y diwydiant morol, mae hi'n defnyddio sain fel cyfrwng i ailystyried y cydbwysedd ecolegol. Mae ei gwaith yn archwilio'r berthynas rhwng bodau dynol a natur, ac yn ein herio i feddwl mewn ffyrdd newydd am amgylchedd Porthladd Dulyn. Mae'r Urban Gull Uprising yn ymgysylltu'n uniongyrchol ac yn bryfoclyd â materion sy'n ymwneud â bywyd gwyllt a chadwraeth bioamrywiaeth, gyda ffocws penodol ar y boblogaeth afreolus o wylanod sy’n cael ei beirniadu mor aml.
