Marged Pendrell’s practice is often rooted in the land, and she is particularly interested in the cultural histories that affect the connections and disconnections to ‘place’. She works primarily in three dimensions using mixed media, with most of the work informed by extensive research.
She has made a timeline flotilla of small vessels for Ports, Past and Present, highlighting chosen times and narratives throughout the history of Holyhead’s connection to Ireland.
As an extension to the flotilla, Marged worked with groups within the community to collaborate and create a textile work on a large scale, ‘Cwch Caergybi’. This was based on their responses to their experience of living in the port town and its history.
