Annette Skade is from Manchester and has lived on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork for many years. She has spent a considerable amount of her adult life travelling across the Irish Sea between both places. Her first collection Thimblerig was published in 2013, following her receipt of the Cork Review Literary Manuscript prize. She has been published in various magazines in Ireland, the U.K., the U.S. and Australia. Most of her current work is a response to what happens in the space between her house on the coast and the horizon. She has won and been placed in several international poetry competitions. She has recently completed a PhD on the poetry of Anne Carson at Dublin City University.
