Ports, Past and Present: Creative Connections across the Irish Sea
Porthladdoedd, Ddoe a Heddiw: Cysylltiadau Creadigol ar draws Môr Iwerddon

Ceredigion Museum, Aberystwyth, hosted the first exhibition in May–June 2022, to coincide with the launch of the project’s port-focused films.

Much of the visual work had been completed by this point, and this was the first time that the work had been seen in a public space. It included the Flotilla, Community Boat and associated work by Marged Pendrell; photography by Zillah Bowes; a series of illustrations by Peter Stevenson; a set of postcards by Julie Merriman; and the two films made by David Begley (The Wexford Whale) and Peter Stevenson and Jacob Whittaker (Uisce Dŵr Water). The other artists and writers were represented by reproductions of their work or extracts from their writing. 

The exhibition was hung by David Salter who also provided technical support. Additional maritime objects from the museum collection were also included in the exhibition, and the windows had views to the west over the Irish Sea.

Roedd llawer o'r gwaith gweledol wedi'i gwblhau erbyn hyn, a dyma'r tro cyntaf i'r gwaith gael ei weld mewn man cyhoeddus. Roedd yn cynnwys y Fflotila, y Cwch Caergybi a'r gwaith perthynol gan Marged Pendrell; ffotograffiaeth gan Zillah Bowes; cyfres o ddarluniau gan Peter Stevenson; set o gardiau post gan Julie Merriman; a'r ddwy ffilm a wnaed gan David Begley (The Wexford Whale) a Peter Stevenson a Jacob Whittaker (Uisce Dŵr Water). Cynrychiolwyd yr artistiaid a'r llenorion eraill gan atgynyrchiadau o'u gwaith neu ddarnau o'u hysgrifennu.

Cafodd yr arddangosfa ei hongian gan David Salter a roddodd gymorth technegol hefyd. Cafodd gwrthrychau morwrol ychwanegol o gasgliad yr amgueddfa eu cynnwys hefyd yn yr arddangosfa, ac roedd yna olygfeydd tua'r gorllewin dros Fôr Iwerddon i’w cael o’r ffenestri.
